Neal Birnbaum received his B. Throughout his career, Dr. Birnbaum has enjoyed the diagnostic challenges of rheumatology and the opportunity to work with his patients in developing their individualized treatment programs. Birnbaum is committed to teaching the next generation of physicians, serving as Director of the Division of Rheumatology at California Medical Center since and also as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco.
He lectures frequently to residents and practicing physicians on various topics in the exciting field of rheumatology. While maintaining a busy practice, Dr. Birnbaum has found time to serve in various voluntary leadership roles. Active for many years with the American College of Rheumatology, Dr. Birnbaum was ACR president in In addition, Dr. Birnbaum was president of the California Society of Internal Medicine. In , he was honored to be named a Master of the American College of Rheumatology.
When not busy with medical activities, Dr. Birnbaum treasures time with his family, especially his grand-daughter, Lily. He enjoys international travel and golf on Sundays.
